RBT Guiding Principles
Empowerment
-
Every person has worth. I foster a safe space for clients to embrace their uniqueness and step fully into the most authentic version of themselves.
-
Clients improve their own self talk through positive affirmations and reframing skills so that they are acting from a place of worthiness rather than shame or guilt.
Authenticity
-
Honest communication is critical to changing your life. Dialogue is the cornerstone of my coaching practice. Being open with me and, more importantly, honest with yourself is where the magic happens.
-
I am who I am - enthusiastic, positive, and genuine. I love to read. I love to learn. Strangers are just people I haven't made friends with yet. I won't ever show up as less than myself.
Personal Solutions
-
One size never fits all. Cookie cutter programs don't exist in RBT. We work together to create goals, skills, and action steps that help you move toward a vision crafted by you. While goals may look similar, each person has a unique path to create and follow.
-
Keep it real. Health is what allows us to live our lives the way we want. I work with clients to create solutions to fit their lives - not rearrange their lives to fit the solutions. Every person has a different life so every person has an individualized set of steps to realize their vision.
Love the Skin You're In
-
Changing your mindset to love yourself as you are first is the most foundational way to change your relationship with your body. Food and movement are a part of your life but that doesn't mean that your life should revolve around them.
-
As long as diet culture is the problem, it cannot be part of the solution. Seeking solutions in weight loss, body reshaping, and using external cues to determine your worth does nothing to improve your confidence, body image, or overall health.
Balanced Health
-
Health is not determined by a number on a scale or something you can see in a mirror. As such, I have a variety of other metrics, both objective and subjective, for my clients to gauge progress on their goals.
-
Movement is a part of every person's life. The key is tuning in to yourself to find what you enjoy - whether that's walking, lifting, or belly dance! I work with my clients to try new things and find what makes them shine.
-
Food is more than simply calories and food groups. Reducing everything you eat down to it's caloric values ignores all the other reasons we eat and the benefits that we get from it. Clients works through exercises to help relearn how to tune into their own body cues and make decisions in line with their own values.
